Laserlyte Laser Trainer Target Review

If you’ve read any of my articles on shooting or my bestselling shooting book, you know I’m a big fan of dry firing. One problem that I find with dry firing is that it can be a little…dry. So when I saw a product that can give you feedback on what you’re doing, I was all over it. So I went online to my favorite retailer, Amazon.com, and ordered a LaserLyte Laser Trainer Target. This target records where a laser hits the target and saves you time, money, and ammunition. I also ordered a Laser Trainer Cartridge in 40SW for use in my Glock 35.

When my target arrived, it took me less than three minutes from the time I opened the box until I was using the trainer. The system is extremely easy to use. Turn on the target, drop the cartridge into your chamber, and shoot. When you want to see where you hit, just shoot a small circle on the face of the target and you will see your shots. There is another circle on the face of the target you shot to clear the display and then you can start over.

One problem I found is that I could not get it to work outside due to the light. I also had a few problems inside if there was too much light next to the target. This wasn’t a big deal, but something to take into consideration. Because I couldn’t get it to work outside, the farthest I could shoot inside was 25 yards (front of my garage to THE back of my living room).

For me, this is far enough to push my skills, though the manufacturer says it can shoot out to 50 yards. One item I wish this had on it was a power indicator light so you know when it’s on. It comes with batteries and a spare set of batteries, which I always appreciate when I buy something electronic.

In the end, I think this is a good investment to learn or teach shooting skills. It makes dry firing a lot more fun, and if it’s more fun, I’m more likely to do it. I’m thinking of buying another target so I can work on shooting multiple targets. I think that would be a big help in working on transitioning targets at home. It’s also small enough to travel with you if you’re on the road and you carry your gun with you.

Next, in this laserlyte laser trainer review, The caliber-specific Laser Trainer Cartridge that I got fits inside the pistol chamber and features a firing-pin-activated switch that indicates bullet impact with a bright red laser dot. For the cost of one or two visits to a local range, you can enjoy a lifetime of free training with the Laser Trainer Cartridge at the location that works best for you.

The Laser Trainer Cartridge easily installs into the firing chamber in seconds, works regardless of barrel length, and does not stick out of the barrel. The Laser Trainer Cartridge activates for 100 milliseconds each time the firing pin strikes the cartridge. This modified cartridge is rimless, so the Laser Trainer Cartridge is not expelled during dry fire, which allows for tap, rack, bang, or malfunction training drills.

A hardened rubber plunger on the laser also acts as a built-in snap cap to protect the firing pin and two rubber rings on the laser help ensure a proper fit to best replicate bullet impact for accurate training. The Laser Trainer Cartridge requires three 377 batteries, good for approximately 3,000 shots.
